A very wet morning saw the start of the second round of the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship from Dolgellau in North Wales. The rally ran through the mountains and forests of Gartheiniog and Dyfi on the edge of Snowdonia.
Phil Harris explained, “The forest stages here are notorious for being very fast, with big drops off the edge of the road – not the place for the faint hearted!”
“We knew that we had to be on it right from the start and the pace would be quick! We were on the pace from the off and the only drama all day was when we slid wide into a ditch on special stage 2. Luckily I kept my foot in and the car pulled itself out unscathed!”
“We carried on to record our second class win of the season and also our second win in the prestigious Category 1.”
“We went well all day and the amazing Mini, expertly prepared by RSR Historic Engineering, not only performed impeccably but also kept ahead of a host of much more powerful historic and modern cars!”
“The rally was the first time out for our new sponsors, Connected Solutions, FixAuto and Prasco and I know that there are thrilled with the result! I can’t wait for the next round at the end of the month!”
